Kuala Kubu Bharu Hot Spring is a single concrete pool fed by a natural spring in the Taman Arif Utama housing estate, on the edge of KKB town. There is no fee and no gate, and people use it day and night.

It is a neighbourhood pool, not an attraction, and few people outside KKB know about it. The turn-off is on Route 55, the road up to Fraser's Hill, and the water is a mild 40°C, cooler than Selayang or Hulu Yam.

The pool

One concrete-lined pool, with a separate walled section where the spring water comes up. A UiTM study published in 2013 measured the water at 40.0°C, which puts it in the "thermal" band rather than hyperthermal, cooler than Selayang or Hulu Yam. Malaysia Traveller describes it as hot but bearable. Google reviewers in 2026 mostly call the pool small, and one in July 2026 found the water less hot than expected.

The same study recorded pH 7.3 and the lowest dissolved solids of the Selangor springs it tested: 225 mg/L, with about 45 mg/L sodium, 24 mg/L potassium, 10 mg/L sulphur, 13 mg/L chloride and almost no sulphate. It is suitable for bathing, not drinking.

Facilities

The Hulu Selangor council built two gazebos and a small toilet block and put up direction signs. When Malaysia Traveller visited (undated), the toilet block had no toilets fitted. In May 2024 residents told Free Malaysia Today the pool needed better maintenance and asked for public toilets, and the July 2026 SAYS listing mentions only changing stalls and a gazebo. Assume there is no working toilet.

Google reviews from June to October 2026 describe the pool as clean and quiet, and credit the Taman Arif residents, the council and volunteers with keeping it that way. On toilets they disagree: in July and August 2026 two reviewers found only changing rooms, while another found a toilet with no light at night. Two said there is no tap to rinse off. After dark the lights are on motion sensors, so the area stays dim.

There is a small free car park. No source mentions food stalls or shops at the pool.

History and neighbours

Malaysia Traveller says the spring was found only about ten years before its visit and that residents kept quiet about it. The pool sits between houses, so keep noise down at night.

A 1997 national survey listed a 45°C spring at the Pusat Latihan Polis (police training centre) in Kuala Kubu Bharu. We could not confirm whether that is this spring, so we use only the 2013 reading here.

Getting there

From Kuala Lumpur, drive north on Federal Route 1 and turn right for Kuala Kubu Bharu (Route 55). Shortly after, take the first left, where there is an Islamic school, then follow the Kolam Air Panas signs through the housing estate to the small car park on Jalan Arif 6, Taman Arif Utama. Malaysia Traveller gives the street as Jalan Arif 12; the pin on this page matches the OpenStreetMap point and the UiTM survey coordinates for the pool.

Parking is free. Without a car, take an e-hailing ride from KKB town; we found no public transport into the estate.

Before you go

  • Bring drinking water and a towel; there is no shop at the pool.
  • Use the toilets in KKB town first and bring a bottle of clean water to rinse off. July and August 2026 reviewers found no rinse tap and mostly no toilet.
  • Bring a torch if you come at night; the lights are motion-sensor and dim, according to July 2026 reviews.
  • Park in the small car park, not in front of houses, and keep noise down late at night.
  • Expect warm, not scalding, water (about 40°C). If you want hotter water, Selayang and Hulu Yam measured above 49°C in the same study.
  • Bring the children to Kerling Hot Spring, about 6.5 km away, if they want a river and a playground.
