The hot pools
Accounts differ on the number of pools. Escape Anytime, writing in July 2024, found two: one shaded by trees and one in full sun, both "onsen temperature". The Escabee description also says two. TAHAN Outdoor and two Escabee reviewers describe three pools graded hottest, hotter and hot, plus a normal-temperature wading pool for children, so the layout may have changed since 2024. A November 2025 reviewer counted a normal-temperature wading pool for children, a shaded hot pool and an open hot pool. TAHAN calls the water warm rather than scalding. Nobody has published a temperature reading or a water analysis.
A reviewer says the pools stay open 24 hours for campers. The cold stream alongside is the other half of the draw, though Escape Anytime found it narrowed and lined with concrete, and sometimes murky from ECRL rail works upstream. TAHAN reports that the wash basins also run on spring water and stay warm all day.
Lots and prices
Lots run along the river and on an upper deck. Escape Anytime found lots 16 to 19 in full sun from about 11am until evening, and the mangosteen trees give little shade elsewhere, so bring a tarp and a stand fan. Malaysia Camping lists car camping from RM80 per plot per night and normal camping from RM100. Escape Anytime quoted RM100 up to RM180 for the larger lots, and a reviewer on TAHAN paid about RM150 for a bigger one.
No gear? One reviewer paid RM285 for a tent package on the first night and RM100 for the second: air mattress, sheets, pillow, blanket, two fans, a cooking table, chairs and a stove, but no plates or cutlery. These are reviewer figures, so confirm the rate when you book.
Facilities
There are nine to ten toilet and shower cubicles with hot water, washing areas with dishwashing liquid, hair dryers, charging points, a Coway filter for drinking water and a freezer for meat. The owner sells ice, coconuts and ice cream, and TAHAN says he keeps some durian aside for guests in season. Docile pets are allowed if you clean up after them.
The July 2024 visit flagged weak tap pressure, a Coway filter that slowed to a trickle, overflowing bins and toilets that were not cleaned daily, and found no site lighting at night. Google reviews from November 2025 to August 2026 paint a better picture: campers call the grounds and toilets clean, mention a plug point on every lot, and a February 2026 reviewer describes lights around the pools after dark. A June 2026 family ate at an on-site café, useful if you run short of food. An August 2026 camper found a few stray dogs scavenging around the lots.
Rules and timing
Escabee lists check-in at 1pm and check-out at 12pm. The gate closes at 10pm and quiet time starts at 11pm. No fireworks, no fires on the ground (use the BBQ pit), sort your rubbish, and keep cars in the parking area, not on the lots. Escabee bookings cannot be cancelled or refunded, but you can move the date up to 7 days before check-in, twice per booking.
Weekend and public holiday lots go first. On long holidays the Karak Highway can jam at the Batu Caves junction. For another soak on the way home, the free Bentong Public Hot Spring and the paid ēRYA by Suria pools are a few kilometres away at Kampung Temiang on the same old road.
Getting there
The campsite is at Lot 3863, Jalan Kuala Lumpur Lama, Batu 9, 28700 Bentong, about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur according to Escabee. Take the Karak Highway, exit at Bentong and follow the old road (Jalan Kuala Lumpur Lama), or use the trunk road via Gombak, which Escape Anytime suggests when the highway jams on long holidays. The turn-off has no signboard and is easy to miss, so navigate to the campsite pin rather than the road name. The road is fine for any car, and you can park close to your lot. There is no public transport.
Before you go
- WhatsApp 019-662 5668 before you set off to confirm your lot; the turn-off has no signboard and is easy to drive past.
- Avoid lots 16 to 19 if you can, or bring a tarp and a stand fan: they get full sun from about 11am until evening.
- Pack earplugs and mosquito repellent. Reviewers mention highway noise on quiet nights and mosquitoes around dawn.
- Bring lights for your tent and the walk to the toilets, and keep food in closed boxes: an August 2026 camper saw stray dogs looking for scraps.
- Only book through Escabee once your dates are firm: there are no refunds, though you can move the date up to 7 days before check-in.
