Sankina Hot Spring Park is a commercial hot spring park on Jalan Hotspring in the Kampung Air Panas area of Tawau, about 400 m from the older Tawau Hot Springs Recreational Park. It has hot pools at different temperatures, shallow pools and a water-play area for children, a playground and a food counter.

Sankina Hot Spring Park is still running: its Google Maps listing is active and visitors were rating it as recently as September 2026. The catch is upkeep. Reviews through 2025 keep coming back to moss in the pools, slippery floors and dirty toilets, and later reviews are star ratings without comments, so nobody has said whether any of it has been fixed.

What to expect

The park has hot pools at different temperatures, shallow pools that a Malaysian travel listing describes as safe for children, and a water-play area. There are changing rooms, toilets, a playground and a food counter. No source we found gives the pool temperatures or says how the spring water is treated or cooled.

Visitors in 2025 describe a mostly open-air site. One mid-2025 reviewer noted there is no roof over the pools, and an October 2025 reviewer said it gets very hot on sunny days and needs more fans. The same October 2025 visitor said the park let their group bring its own food for a function.

It sits in the same Kampung Air Panas hot spring area as Tawau Hot Springs, now run as The Gaharu Resort & Hotspring about 350 m south, where the natural springs are sulphurous and acidic and there are chalets if you want to stay the night. We could not confirm whether Sankina Hot Spring Park draws from the same springs, so we list its water type as unknown.

Condition

This is the main thing to know before you go. Google reviews from early 2025 through October 2025 repeatedly mention moss in the pools and the play area, dirty or yellowish water, wet and slippery floors, and dirty toilets with a broken door. An October 2025 visitor also saw an electric cable running across the wet floor. Reviews since then are star ratings without comments, so we cannot say whether any of this has been fixed.

Prices and hours

A visitor in May 2025 reported RM15 for adults and RM10 for children on weekdays, dropping to RM10 and RM5 (children 6 and over) during school holidays, with senior citizens and children under 6 free. A March 2026 travel guide gives a higher RM35 adult and RM25 child price but also shows RM15 in its own summary table, so RM15 looks closer to the mark.

Google Maps lists the park as open daily from 10am to 6pm. Older listings gave 10am to 10pm with Wednesdays closed, and the May 2025 visitor said last entry was 4.30pm, so call before planning a late visit.

Getting there

By car: the park is on Jalan Hotspring, 91000 Tawau, in the Kampung Air Panas area. From Tawau town, head out on Jalan Air Panas; the older Tawau Hot Springs park, about 400 m away, is about 8 km from town. Search "Sankina Hot Spring Park" in Waze or Google Maps.

Public transport: no reliable information. Use a taxi or e-hailing ride from town.

Before you go

  • Call +6089-755892 before going, especially for a late visit: the hours on Google and in older listings differ.
  • Wear slippers with grip and hold small children's hands: wet, slippery floors come up again and again in 2025 reviews.
  • Go in the morning or late afternoon: there is little shade over the pools and visitors say it gets very hot at midday.
  • Bring a hat and sunscreen for the same reason.
  • Ask about bringing your own food: an October 2025 group was allowed to for a function.
  • Test the water by hand before letting children in: no pool temperatures are published.
