What the research says
A 2020 conference paper by Samsudin and colleagues reports ground magnetic and 2-D resistivity surveys of the subsurface around the spring in Mantin. A 2023 book chapter by a USM team followed with an integrated geophysical study of the spring's aquifer, and a 2023 USM master's thesis names Ladang Kombok as one of three study sites, with Lojing in Kelantan and Manong in Perak.
The thesis abstract explains why: Malaysian hot springs are tied to faults, fractures and shear zones, which carry heated groundwater back to the surface. The researchers map those structures to understand where the hot water comes from.
What is not known
An online hot spring database lists "Ladang Kombok, Mantin" at 47, without units, date or method; we read it as °C. None of the abstracts we could read gives a temperature or water chemistry. We found no description of a pool, no fee, no opening hours and no visitor reviews.
The exact location has not been published, so our map pin marks Mantin town, not the spring. Note that the only Ladang Kombok we could place on a map, home to SJK (T) Ladang Kombok, is on Jalan Sungai Gadut near Rantau, about 20 km south of Mantin. The research site may be on a different part of the estate or somewhere else entirely.
If you do find the spring, assume it is on private estate land and ask the estate management before entering.
Getting there
Mantin is on Federal Route 1, the old main road between Kajang and Seremban. Researchers place the spring at Ladang Kombok, Mantin, but no directions, road conditions or parking details have been published, and a Ladang Kombok estate also exists near Rantau, south of Seremban. Do not enter estate land without the owner's or estate management's permission.
Before you go
- Do not enter estate land without permission. This is a research site, not a public pool.
- If you are researching the site, start with the 2020 EAGE paper and Nuraisyah Samsudin's 2023 USM thesis listed in our sources.
- For a soak near Mantin, Sungai Lalang in Semenyih is about 24 km north and Pedas Hot Springs in Rembau district is about 30 km south-east.
- If you are driving to Ladang Kombok, check which one you mean: SJK (T) Ladang Kombok is near Rantau, not Mantin.
Questions people ask
Can you swim at Mantin Hot Spring?
We found no evidence of a bathing pool or public access. The spring is known from geophysical research, not tourism.
Where is Mantin Hot Spring?
Researchers place it at Ladang Kombok, Mantin, in Seremban district. The exact location has not been published.
How hot is Mantin Hot Spring?
An online hot spring database lists it at 47, presumably °C, with no date or method. The research abstracts we could read give no temperature.
What is the nearest hot spring you can bathe in near Mantin?
Sungai Lalang in Semenyih, about 24 km north, is a privately run pool with an entry fee.
